How I'm Learning Discipline!

The last few months I've been hitting a brick wall with some of my new paintings. I have a vague color palette in my mind and suddenly I start slapping all kinds of colors on my canvas, before I know it I made a mess and I'm stuck!!! So I hang it up in my house for "observation" until I finally find my way. However, this can take YEARS!! I decided to use a different method for the painting I started a couple of days ago and instead of using every color I want I'm sticking to a specific color palette. It's starting to make sense although I have to start working on the contrasting colors before I claim success. Now my dilemma is.....Am I restricting my creative process by forcing myself to a single color scheme? The only thing I'm sure of for now is that I'm enjoying every minute of the process because everything is flowing and is heading towards a cohesive direction. I was so inspired today that I worked 12 hours straight and still have energy to keep going. I love when this happens!
